2008> Autobiography chrome wheel refurbishment

Ive bagged myself a real cheap set of these that need a refurb but I'm not sure if I should refurb in chrome as is, go silver like normal alloys or go with a dark silver like bonnatti as its the same price no matter the color, £50 per wheel.

I may not even fit them and just refurb them and sell on as for £400 and needing 2tyres I dot think I've done too bad Smile

Anyone got any experience and pics on this at all(posting from iPod so not really searched yet!!)??

If you are thinking of selling them, I would suggest trying to keep them as original as possible. Anything non original attracts a limited market. Smile No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

Kingpleb, are you sure these are autobiography wheels? I thought these were land rover option wheels? Dan was selling similar ones (ball polished IIRC) and my car originally had these added by the first owner, sadly they neglected them and the dealer had them refurbed prior to my purchasing the car. Mine are now standard silver. Chrome is not a good look IMHO.

Cheers Kingpleb Thumbs Up , stupid iPad wouldn't let me copy the bbcode to post the picture.

Would say that in that picture the wheels are quite dirty, silver finish when clean is brighter. Will get one out of the garage tomorrow and take a photo so that you can see how they actually look in daylight. The paint finish matches the silver of the centre caps

Will, I did a "quick" self-refurb on the wheels on my P38, the colour is silver but a little darker than normal and if I'm honest, it doesn't look as good as a nice standard "light" silver would look (IMO!). If I were keeping it I'd do them again but as it will be up for sale shortly (guess what I've spent all weekend cleaning and fettling :rolleyes) I'll leave them as-is.

Conclusion though - a nice light, bright standard-ish silver colour!

(PS - think about how much better any car with alloys looks when you've just washed it AND CLEANED THE WHEELS!)

Well I've picked them up and am in the course of double checking the price to restore them as is one up a hit since I last had wheels done, about £10 a wheel..
They aren't too bright really, the curbing isn't too bad but the paint is really bubbling in places!! Sad no wonder LR dare not cover wheels under the same anti perforation warranty as the rest of the body Very Happy

Will post the pics up tomorrow but they are real heavy Censored and could feel the weight of them in the back of the FF!! Still average mpg today has been 26.7 as got into the high 29's on the way down stick to about 65-70 but then Chelmsford roundabout obsession saw te drop to low 28's then climb to mids as I got out hut then free meeting up wih Rads(lively to meet you Dave an hope you are happy with the machines Smile ) I then had to haul up he m1 to make it back in time to pick kids up and made it with 20mins to spare hut that saw the mpg drop to the above and maybe the weight as well. A 4.4 2011 was sat next to me on the m1 and then planted it, don't half shift!!
