Just had Autoglass out to fit a new windscreen after getting it whacked by a stone thrown up by a clown doing 100mph in an M3..Anyway I was moaning to the fitter about having to pay a £50 excess until he informed me that the cost of the new windscreen was £2500!!!! WTF!!! I just hope that this doesn't affect my insurance due to the high cost of a replacement screen..... How on earth can a poxy sheet of glass cost as much as that?? Or is this just another case of aaaaahh Sir its a Range Rover don't worry you F S are used to getting ripped off!!!!

I'm sure on a recent post somebody said the cost of a windscreen from Land Rover is £700. Is Mr Autoglass telling porky pies? I'm sure somebody will be along soon who can tell us! 2012 SDV8 Vogue SE

I recently had one fitted. My acoustic, climate-control windscreen was approx £700 fitted by a Land Rover dealer.

Gentlemen I kid you not, that's what I was told this morning, I was also told that the L322 has 10 different windscreens perhaps Dan you can tell me whether that is true or not. If this windcreen gets charged out at £2.5k then I intend taking this up with Autoglass and my insurance company

I think you may well find that is what auto glass would charge a private customer for replacement - they are only really intent on supplying the insurance market.

We tried to get them to replace a rear window on a freelander without going through insurance and had a similar experience (much lower cost but proportionately the same)

i got my windscreen done by them its a 60 plate transit connect with- auto light/wiper sensor , heated screen
it cost £1500 and the company i work for had to pay £305 for the vat and the excess

Spose you could always go for the £25k Armoured Windscreen! Maybe they fitted "Part Armoured", never know what they write on invoices! Or maybe includes a "fitting fee" !  Reformed

Do Autoglass do genuine LR badged screens? I think I may need one soon. Don't want an imitation though and like having all the glass matching (OCD) 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Had to push my insurer hard for a genuine windscreen. Although when the fitter came out, they said because I had AHBA and acoustic/heated windscreen, they could only ever fit genuine.

There's a reason why the bloke's fitting windscreens.........'cos he failed the accountancy exams.
