These are Duratracs presumably in the OEM 255/60/20, unless they went down to 255/55/20 but looking at them compared to my L405 ones I would say they're the 255/60s.

Both of the Range Rover 20" wheel options on the Land Rover website are 8"x 20". Which 8.5" wheels are you referring to?

On the Goodyear website the 255/60/20 is suitable for 7"- 9" rims.

Oh I see, they come in different widths, I didn't know that. I wanted the style 5134 not the 7020 anyway, don't know if they come in different sizes too.

I bought as take-offs and they came with the same size tyres on that I wanted to fit so assumed they'd be fine. Now I check, Land Rover say the 8" is correct for 255 wide tyres so all good.

Hi - interested to hear your views on the duratrac's from an on road point of view? I'm considering doing similar- I have to visit some fairly remote sites a few times a year; not proper off road but some fairly challenging unmade roads and farm tracks. OK in summer - less so in winter.... the thing is I don't want to ruin the ride / noise for thr other 95% of the time!!

Undoubtedly they are a bit louder than normal road tyres or AT tyres, if you can live with it or not is a question that only you can answer after hearing for yourself I'm afraid. They are nothing like the noise from full mud tyres though for example.

I've done 50k in an L322 and L405 with them fitted and the vast majority of that was on the road. I don't drive slowly and in fact a lot of the time I've been doing 90+mph on the motorway and the noise is perfectly fine for me but that's only my opinion. The ride comfort is better and grip is impressive. Aquaplaning is much reduced. Sidewall flex is of course more than a 21" or 22" wheel but Range Rovers are not sports cars. I can still hustle mine along nicely.

A little bit of a hum is easier to put up with than worrying about getting stuck on a wet field. If you're worried about the noise of them however I'd try and find someone with them fitted you could listen to first. I'm nowhere near you or I'd offer to let you hear them. I don't think you'd be disappointed but I don't want to be responsible for you buying them and then not being able to stand the noise of them!

It's reassuring to know its not too intrusive - as it happens, I have a colleague with a (new) defender fitted with duratracs, so I'm going to take that for a spin. Different, but I'm assuming if it's OK in that then the RR will be fine too! I'm not too noise sensitive so we'll see.....thanks for the view!
