Toyota INN Engine

Hi, why have Toyota been extremely quiet in the EV market, in fact openly stating that EVs as we know them today are merely a fad and consumers would reject them in the long term ? Reason is they see no future in the purely EV motor, because it's all about weight and that's down to the batteries, they off down the hybrid route and they've got a new motor to take them there.

So Toyota has been quietly developing what it hopes to be the next generation of combusion engines, in this case the single stroke INN engine thet they intent to couple to hybrid technology in their next generations vehicles.

The single stroke, or horizontally opposing cylinder 2 stroke is nothing new, it was pioneered by the massively powerful legendary Napier Deltic (train engine) and takes the principle to the next level and doesn't need a fuel/oil mix to lubricate itself.

If this new engine turns out to be what the Toyota CEO says it will be (as opposed to the ill fated Censored rotary that was simply too far ahead of the materials technologies we have today, incidentally mini Censored proliferate in the unmanned aircraft world and as potential range extenders due to their simplicity, smoothness and compact size).

Anyway, here's an intro, to perhaps an engine that could yet see the ongoing big rumble Range Rovers of the future if they can keep the emmisions down, who can tell.

I see the auto policing bot is not allowing the real name of the rotary engine. So please don't think I've been using profanity in my posts. Fuji White 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westmiinster

Like watching an advert for an exercise bike you don’t need on qvc … didn’t really tell you anything about the engine … I expected it to cut to

“ you can buy this engine technology for 3 easy payments … “

Realistically, can’t see it … It would fall down for similar reasons to the Censored engine I reckon. And to argue it’s less complex …. That cam/follower would be wrecked in no time. V8 or else ...
