With everything working fine and crawling along the M25 I suddenly got a bong and a Suspension Fault. Lights on centre console out and the warning not to exceed 30 mph.

On getting home I tested the suspension and found that it would not adjust but just kept bouncing up to the fully extended (super extended) height with the message: Please reset when object has been removed etc - it thought I was stuck on a rock or similar!

Using Hawkeye I was able to reset the suspension and clear faults but the same issue re-occured immediatly.

The fault explained that the System [b]could not vent[/b] and thus was stuck in the highest setting with no way of going down.

With a bit of searching I founds that the Compressor has a brass coloured cone shaped exhaust muffler/filter (sintered brass filter) near the top at the front of the car end of the compressor (Take the black metal cover off with four bolts after removing spare tyre). Apparently this is gets blocked over time as it is a hard sponge type filter.

The fix is to remove this filter using a 13mm spanner (Its shaped into a nut head at the top) get back in the car and start up and then select normal suspension setting. The system will let out a gasp as the compressed air is released and the car will drop to normal. The code can now be cleared and all will be well.

The car can be used without the filter (bit noisier) but this is probably not sensible in the long term. Ideally a replacement needs to be sourced but I think these are only available as part of a service kit.

Another option is to drill a tiny hole through the cone filter through the middle to allow air to escape but very little chance of anything nasty getting in. The Cone filter can then be refitted and all is good.

I believe there is a service kit with a new filter cone (sintered brass filter), but I strongly recommend also replacing the dryer at the same time, as its desiccant is what causes the muffler to clog in the first place.  :thumbsup:
