What a nice guy Metcalfe comes across as. Cant help thinking he should write more. I cancelled my subscription to Evo due to tiring of the rubbish that his younger writing staff were churning out month after month. Was turning into a Top Gear esque soapbox with nothing worth hearing apart from opinions that were as valid or otherwise as anyone elses! That and the increasing fascination with testing very expensive cars in very expensive locations which just left me wondering if my subs each quarter were helping this more than I was comfortable with!

Where is CCC these days or something similar?!

United States 2005 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Chawton White

1 of the local LR dealers sponsored an ice racing event 2 years ago.
There's a lake about 20 miles away where you can drive on the ice.
My neighbor, who uses the dealer for service, got an invite, and he asked me if I wanted to go.
He was in his LR3, I had my 2000 RR.
The vehicles were randomly paired up for 2-at-a-time races on the ice.
I went out in the first round to a FFRR.
My neighbor made it to the final round, ending up third overall.

We got to drive a brand new RR, I think it was a 2010 model at that time.
How crazy was the LR dealer, allowing people to drive their $80,000 vehicles on a frozen lake?
Sure was fun!

Other than a pair of Discos, my 2000 RR was the oldest vehicle at the event.
I swear, if I had better tires, I coulda been a contender! Smile Jim
