Had a battery drain/going flat prob on the TD6 for a month or so now, put a new 5yr warranty Varta I1 on it 14 months ago, getting passed from pillar to post regarding getting it changed, Varta now want it testing first. Question:

Can the tester/local agent tell its been drained by a fault on the car? (if it is this, and not a duff battery)

Do they need it fully charged to test, or will flat be ok??

whoever tests it will do a discharge test on it...this means putting a load on the battery and seeing whether it goes back to its proper state.. ie on load if it goes to 10 volts then theres a good chance that a cell has gone..obviously you cant test a dead battery so it will have to be charged up first..


i've always said its best to buy the battery locally [if possible] as any problems they will replace it there and then..[like europarts did with mine]
