Sweden 2005 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Giverny Green
Should i trade my 05 FFRR for a 03 MB Gwagen?

I have a 05 Vogue, 86000km.
I´m happy with the car other than some problems with the air suspension lately.
I normally keep my cars for rather short times and then look for something to trade with.
Now i have the opportunity to trade it with a 2003 Mercedes Geländewagen (G 400) 160000km.
What do you guys think about this?
Anyone have experience with the G class?

Both cars has around the same sell value over here. (perhaps the 03 G400 slightly higher).

Below is a link to the actual car from a website here in Sweden.

TIA Peter

I'd stick with the FFRR, better the devil you know and all Smile

Its older and has much higher km's than your car and you seem to get less car for the money so if it was me i wouldn't bother. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

If you're going to trade, I would trade up. Not sure you're proposing that. Wink Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Only if you change your posting name to Mr Mad from Madshire who is having a mad day.

An older car, with twice the miles, that is based on a van to start with in exchange for a premium 4X4 limosine?

Seems to me to be a change for changes sake.

The G would only attract me if it were the G55, but it'd have to be mint and pampered.

But on what you're proposing, I'd also say you're absolutely barking to consider it. It's a retrograde step.

But it's your choice and your decision.

I'm sure the G-Wagen forum would think differently, though... Si. <This is my name.

I think it's amusing reading all the posts on here... Have you asked the equivalent MB forum yet? Bet the answer would be swayed the other way, why would you want an unreliable Brit crap car blah blah blah... It's personal choice as no one here has a valid technical reason for you not to change...

Personally Ide like them both! The G wagon as my daily ride "because I absolutely adore them" and the FF for nice times... If I could only have one... It would be the................. Hmmm

Craig Thumbs Up

Must agree with Craig.

And: do whatever wiggles your willy. My personal experiences with G's left me with the impression that they are much more strenuous on long drives than a RR but that was a while ago (I almost bought a G before I spent time in a RR Classic. Been hooked since). And I do consider the RR one of the nicest drives I've ever experienced. And I use my RR off road as I would my G (and I drive my Porsche on-track).

I'm the kind of guy that gets a room in the house decorated and I stay with it. My wife loves to re-arrange the furniture. I have a car I like, I keep it (see sig - have more cars too!). I wouldn't do it. But you seem to be more of a furniture re-arranger. So, like I said: whatever wiggles your willy...

I guess we will be biased. However we are driving an acknowledged design classic, which still looks contemporary. It has a broad appeal, and so successful that externally it has not really changed in 10 years, and is still seeing strong and growing sales. It is supremely comfortable, luxurious, smooth and spacious.

How many of these comments would you make about the G-Wagon?

I sympathise, I usually change my cars every six months or so. However I know if I change from my FFRR, I'll want another one immediately. Until I can find something which is really better, why change.

But if the G-Wagon really appeals, and the figures work, then go for it. Just make sure you are taking into account the mileage when doing your calculations. If a G-Wagon two years older with a much higher mileage is worth more than your Range Rover, I'll be very surprised! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!
