je vais aller dans le sens de la majorité des intervenants ici . Ne prends pas le TD6 , tu seras déçu , et en plus il est fragile au niveau de la Boite GM .
Soit tu attends et tu te payes unn TDV8 et alors là l'electronique & la boite , ainsi que le molin te stisferont .

Soit une autre option , tu prends pour 10 000 Euros de moins un V8 essence , de 2002 à 2005 , , cela se trovuve sur le bon coin , et avec 10 000 euros de moins à kilometrage egal tu peux en faire des KM avec du SP95 ....!!!

i came from a Touareg to the FFRR. i have had green oval products most of my life and owned them all i think. but i fancied a change a few years ago and bought a 3.0 V6 TDI Touareg.

as stated by some already, you will find the FFRR much different in alot of ways. it is slower, doesn't handle as well, is less ecconomical and in my opinion is not as good a tow car, but these are of course only my opinion and things are down to driving style too!!

as far as ability goes, in my opinion the VW is just as capable as the FFRR off road and there are not many cars i would that about.

i had my Touareg tuned to 300bhp with more torque than you could handle it was timed at 7 secs 0-60, but this isn't everything.

it's all down to choices and what you want and what suits your needs.

i am more than happy with my FFRR even more so now that it is remapped to where it should have been in the first place, it drives so much better now.

i think you will be happy with the FFRR if you want to waft along and enjoy the scenery, if you want to drive faster and pee off boy racers stick with the Touareg.

i tried the Touareg it was a fantastic car and suited me for the couple of years i owned it, but the FFRR is firmly planted on my drive now and will be replaced with a TDV8 when change time comes around.....remapped of course..  Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Oddly enough i still have a hankering for the 5.0 Litre V10 Touareg

mick, if you think a FFRR can be a money pit, the V10 Touareg makes it look stupid. i was a member of the Touareg owners club and gained alot of info over the years.

the V10 requires engine and gearbox out for most jobs and that costs a fortune.

a good tuned 3.0 V6 if only about 15 bhp behing the V10 in the power stakes.

i had to have the rear calipers, discs and pads changed on a just out of warranty 3 years old low miles full VW service history car, as they are all brembo components and a repair kit is not available for the calipers.

anyway the cost of this job was an eye watering £2,000!!!....

i could buy 4 air springs and a full set of brakes for that on the FFRR

that is one of the main reasons i changed back to the green oval, i fed up of the expence of VW parts.

Why not just buy a petrol range rover with LPG will be quick and cost less to run
The vw is ok but just a bit run of the mill and not very nice inside ......in my opinion
I like the cayenne but the fact it looks a lot like the vw puts me off "RANGEISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"

Hello all, as you have mentioned, I got my calculation mixed up...!! Sorry for that.

I have tried the td6 remapped yesterday and I quite like it: of course it is nothing to compare with the VW 3L v6, the power and the sound are totally different, which is actually good because you stop any comparaison!

The inside is very good and something else cery important to me is the fact there is no vibration you can hear in the car. Vibrations sound when I am driving could make me crazy!! The owner told me his consumption is about 11 l/100 km which about the same than the Touareg.

This Range Rover is about 120 000 km, could you tell me if some "vibrations noises" could appear at a higher mileage?

I have to try the tdv8 on sunday. But I am not very interesting in a "fast" car anymore, I just want the car powerfull enough to overtake safety enough, which is the case with the td6 remapped.

I love the inside space. It is a Vogue version.

My opinion is this:-

Buy the car that suits what you want to use it for - If you are concerned about the TD6 being too slow compared to the TDV8 think of this.

My range is great, but when driving it i mellow - i would never use it to bomb down country lanes with full opposite lock, it just doesn't suit the range rover. I find myself cruising along and satisfied without my hair on fire, it suits the car.

I also have a BMW which i also drive to suit its style - seams only to go sideways, to give you an idea, a set of rear tyres on this only lasted just over 10,000 miles.

If you are concerned about the speed, id say this - I'd love a TDV8, they its a better car than the TD6 by a long shot, but one with an additional 80k, and for all that extra cash i would buy the TD6 and use the additional cash on a car to get your speed kicks in - Caterham anyone?

I've had several VWs in the past and i cant fault them, but they are not in the same league as a FFRR. They are probably built better, more reliable and faster etc etc, but its just not a range rover, only a pretender. I'm sure that there are plenty of high quality duck liver pâté out there, but its not foie gras is it? __________________
