TD6 to a TDV8 - And hello!

Hello,

Been lurking for a few weeks. Time for a post methinks.

Just went from a 55 TD6 Vogue to a 57 TDV8 Vogue SE Overfinch (I know but I am from Essex). I have a couple of questions if I may. I have tried searching but common consensus seems to show that 2007 was an odd year.

Does my car have the preheat function as standard? On my old car I had a fob and the TDV8 doesn't so I presumed it was absent. However from reading some posts other people don't have a fob and set it to come on via the dash. Where is this option?

Secondly when people refer to the AUX port for ipod is this in the centre console? If so where as all I appear to have is a cigarette lighter.

Hi and welcome, and congratulations.

Can't help you with the pre-heater, but the aux socket is in the cars with Rear Seat Entertainment, and is at the rear of the centre console. Thumbs Up

Oh by the way, you'll have to post some pictures of your new pride and joy! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

UK spec TDV8s have the pre-heater. If you don't have the fob then a previous owner has made off with it. Graham

Thanks. So can I work it without the fob? Or is this something I need to buy and have coded? "ducks for cost"

AFAIK you can set it through the touchscreen to come on and off at preset times ...

Correct for the cabin heater; you also have a "manual" mode (ie "heat now").

Also, for engine warmup assistance it's automatic anyway. The fob is convenient for stariting it from your house half an hour before you leave.

You need the battery in top class condition. Graham

That is what I miss. Opening the door a crack, pressing the fob and coming out 20 minutes later to a warm car ready to go. Do you know how much a replacement fob is and whether it needs to be coded?

Does need to be linked to the car but there may be a user way of doing it, don't know. Dan at Duckworth (site sponsor) can supply the fob. Graham

I am now Range Rover less. The entire car broke down on Friday night. This coupled with a few other problems made me reject it. Saxtons originally did not want to know (I only had the car for 5 days) but I persisted and they caved, shocking service from them.
