HI , I have a 2003 L322. The front sidelights have that dated yellow glow - ive been looking at fitting some new replacement LED canbus OK lamps. There are loads on the market 1LED, 3LED,5LED and loads of different shapes and sizes, and was wondering if anybody has fitted a set and has any advice.

IIRC I had 3 LED ones on my old car - got them off eBay & they were fine - a much bluer white and significantly closer to the headlights.

They were bright enough, but I don't drive on sidelights anyway, it's either nothing of headlights, so I just wanted them to match.

Put those in the RR, no problems.

I've just fitted another set of canbus LED's into mine. In terms of bulbs, try and get the right colour temp.

I originally had bought any old canbus set from ebay, but they were quite purpley coloured ( 8000k colour temp or higher) ... I ordered a cheapo cheapo set of canbus 6000k LED lights and fitted them a couple of days ago, and they are a nice clean white light.

I've also just fitted a set of 6000k Philips HID bulbs into mine .... the HID lights and the side lights now match very well.

For general reference:
Original Manufacturer HID bulbs = 4300K
Newer OEM bulbs ( BMW etc ) = 5000k
Clean white HID / LED = 6000k
White with a notable blue tint = 8000k
Purple blue tint = 10000k V8 or else ...

Do those colours apply to the facelift 2007 MY >

If you want a crisp white, then try 6000k led's. But be warned, they may look a little 'whiter' than the HID xenons.

I only changed my xenons cause one of the bulbs blew ( totally into bits ... well impressed at how it shattered )

Dont know about an '07 plate in terms of what is fitted. Most likely 4300k to be honest.

The colour temp thing is very generic and bulb colour temp changes with time and design ... one manufacturers colour will always be a little different from another. There are also other factors with HID bulbs. The higher the temp, the lower the output in terms of actual measured lumens. 4300k is the highest in terms of actual brightness, and it gradually falls off the higher up the temp scale you go. Also HID lights lose some of their brightness over time too, they also fall downwards the temp scale as time goes on ( they get a little yellower as time goes on )

I notice my new lights seem a good bit whiter from what I'm used to, but its hard to tell if they are dimmer cause of the higher colour temp, or brighter cause they are brand new compared to the 9 yr old bulbs that were in.

Buy a set of bulbs and just fire them in ans see what you think. Its not a difficult job to change them. IF they are that bad, you can always put the old ones in, or try another set. V8 or else ...
