by 12v supply, do you mean an invertor for the power sockets or literally a 12v feed will run it?

Easiest power solution would be an inverter but I'm sure a simple cigar lighter power supply could be made (not sure what voltage they actually run off but its probably 9-12v)

If you use the micro USB to send the RCA Component outs then you cant charge it up unless its a pass through device, IE the power plugs into it as well.. |

I do a similar thing with iPod/iPhone - I have a lead that charges & plays out of the RCA rerminals |
