Blown header tank

Ive read a lot on here about people with cracked coolant tanks but wasn't 100% sure what I should be looking for and signs etc, until I came home from walking the dog to find the FFRR had taken a Censored on the floor. A quick look found a 2-3inch crack in the tank. £42 from Dan and hopefully it will be sorted Friday.

For those who's tanks have split is it in the same place as mine?

Mine did that but in the middle lane of the M25 last summer.

Same place I think - I was told it was a seam left by the mould and the use of particularly cheap plastic........Built in areas of weakness - apparently the same issue on Disco's too but their after market suppliers have made Alu' versions. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

After that the pics were a bit of a let down - assuming Rob is short for Roberta.

Changed today. Easy job and Thumbs Up To Dan for supplying the new tank. If anyone is interested here are a few pics of the inside of the tank, after a beating from the screwdriver.

The tanks split into four sections all linked at the bottom. The coolant probe is the most interesting and not a clue how it works. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]
