You can spend a few hundred quid or a few hundred thousand, it's as wide open as that! Whistle

If you're on a reasonably decent budget, and by that I mean a couple, to a few grand, you'd be as cheap to get 2 return flights to Dubai and get a good diamon piece while you're there.

As an example, my wife got a "cheap" diamond ring in Dubai for £500 and it was valued at £3,000 in London the other day! Thumbs Up

The 4 C's are the things you need to look out for Carat, Cut, Colour and Clarity.

Well worth shopping around, jewellery has an enormous mark up. Plenty of room for strong negotiating!
If you have a good auction house nearby it would be worth seeing what's coming up in their christmas sale. always get the diamond tested ,anyone genuine will have no Problem with that.
You would get a much better deal with an antique, could be worth a look
