Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a good wheel balancer in the glasgow area. I have 22 inch alloys and I get a slight wobble, feels so much like a wheel balancing issue. its not huge but enough to annoy the hell out of me.

In the past I have had a fair share of issues with wheel balancing on my previous cars, especially my vectra and 3 series which only eventually got sorted. The guy i usually go to said he would be a bit scared to touch the 22 inch alloys I have as he doesnt really do RR's and 99% bmw alloys (dont see the difference) but im quite gutted as he was top end in this field.

I would be grateful for any help. I have heard of premier tyres in hamilton who have the notorious GSP9700 balancer however I havent really heard anything about them.

I have achilles desert hawk tyres 285 35 22. Not very well known in UK however have really good reviews in the USA.

I get an ever so slight vibration at 55-65 at the front (dont really care about this) however theres a more of an annoying vibration at the back which I can feel under my seat, had this before and it was a wheel balancing issue.

Looking at the weights on the alloys that have been piled on top of each other like lego bricks which makes me think it was not very well done in the first place TBH.

What would make you say that?

The fact I get a small vib in steering wheel and through floor is reminiscent of a rubbish wheel balance job on all wheels or at least two.

It possibly could be a tyre/tyres being out of round however a good tryst worth wheel balancer could tell me that.

My mate had an unusual make of tyres on his FFRR when he bought it and had the wheels balanced 6 different times by 'so called experts' in the Edinburgh area to try and cure it. In the end he bought a new set of Pirelli tyres and the problem is sorted. Speaking to a mate in a tyre company he said that cheap tyres are a real pain to balance and some you never can get perfect.

certainly food for thought, I know there can be some issues with cheaper tyres (same issues can be experiences with more expensive ones too).

if you have in recommendations for glasgow that would be great. Ill find out what they say, plus im on the look out for 19's or 20's anyway as i want to feel how smooth the original ride is

would defo want my 22's near perfecto ready for the summer.

can bad brake discs or ones, cause a vibration in the rear just driving not under braking ?

diesel or petrol car mate? all smug in my new plug!

I doubt if a warped disc would cause it unless pressure was on the brake pedal or the disc was so badly warped that it was catching.

Got the winter boots fitted today, and wow, these guys are the real "kwik fit fitters"!

Took 4 of them less than 30 minutes to remove my old tyres, fit and balance the new ones!

Grand total of £40 cash, including disposal of 2 of the removed tyres...........

Maybe I was lucky that they were quiet, but I left a very happy chappy!

yeah I heard they were pretty good tbh.

I'm just round the corner from them so was going to go there and get my new 22" ones done the other side of Jan.......

I asked Diesle or Petrol purely as the engine mounts on the diesels don't work well with 22" on my TDV6 before but if you have a petrol then no issues should be there.
