Whille searching eBay I noticed the 2005+ headlights are different.

Some have one power pack and some have two.

Is this because some are Bi-Xenon?

What's the difference between the two? Other than presumably two Xenons? TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

I thought bi meant high and low beam?
Single xenon was low/ dipped only 15MY SDV8 Vogue SE

Vogue was standard bi-Xenon with HSE being optional. When you switch from Main to Dipped you can sometimes see the flap move in the light (on the shaddow on the road).

There is also a standard type bulb that is used for flashing & in conjunction with the others as xenon's take a while to warm up and give 100% brightness.

The Bi-xenon headlamps use a complex surface reflector for the halogen fill in main beam only lighting unit, as used on the halogen headlamp. This type of reflector is divided into separate parabolic segments, with each segment having a different focal length. The main beam bulbs are quartz halogen, with a rating of 55W. The bulbs are retained in the headlamp unit with conventional wire retaining clips. The bi-xenon headlamps operate as a dip beam and a main beam headlamp unit. The xenon lamp comprises a projector lens with a solenoid controlled shutter to change the beam output from dip to main beam.


They have a different design so you can see from up close if they are poverty spec:

Funny as i was looking at my lights today, on the 06/07 lights, in the same unit as the side light there looks like another bulb chromed top, any ideas

Really useful little extra. Especially off the beaten track with no street lights.

My Vogue SE has the adaptive lights, really useful when pulling into our gateway at night, love the way it fades away after the turn.

Also, on a foggy night on full beam you really see how much the headlamps swivel with even the slightest steering adjustment. Discovery 4 HSE

I have the chromey-style extra bulb (2006 Vogue) but testing it when stationary (headlights on auto, indicator on, wheel turned) it doesn't light up.

Am I trying something wrongly or maybe the bulb has just blown?
