Airline Flight Prices

Have just been on Ryanair , Jet2.com , and Easyjet's websites to check availability on flights as I was thinking of nipping away for a few days ..... Can anyone explain to me why the outbound flights are a third cheaper than the inbound flights ....

For example they charge between £70 and £80 per person to fly out , yet on the inbound flights they charge between £198 and £205 per person ..... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

The flights are averaging about £760 to £855 depending on which airline .... Rolling Eyes

On their advertising ads they make out you can go to places for next to nothing ... Whistle ====================================

"Open Mike Night " sounded like a lot of fun until i found out i was going to an Autopsy

Seems to depend very much on day of the week and how far in the future,

I've found that EasyJet prices for next year seem to have gone up quite a bit.

I do 10 or so returns to Bordeaux and next year the prices are pretty much the same for EasyJet & BA and but BA times are better so I've booked them all up with BA - never thought that would happen Shocked

It is worth looking at some scheduled alternatives and thinking outside the box.

For example, we wanted to fly to Faro a few years ago. All the airlines (including BA) were within a few quid of each other - £600 a ticket, iirc.

Out of curiosity, I looked at flights to Lisbon. BA were £70 a ticket or something ridiculous. It is a relatively short drive (3hrs maybe) from Lisbon to the Algarve and we needed a hire car anyway. We decided to have a night in Lisbon at the end of our trip and discovered it is a very nice city. The savings more than paid for a 5 star hotel and a nice meal out - we were still quids in.

I've noticed the same thing on flights to Glasgow, it's much cheaper to fly there than back from London.

I'm looking at coming up with no 2 son either this weekend or next as he wants to go to an exhibition at the House for an Art Lover on the Dumbreck Road and it's looking like it's going to cost approx £150 each person to fly.

Any recommendations on travel and where to stay / go (or where not to!) gratefully received from the Glasgow Mafia Bow down

A lot of the time you can find that flights + one way car hire can work out cheaper than flying into and out of the same airport Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Mick, it's probably just for Saturday night and I'd rather stay in a pub with good food & rooms than a large hotel as my son is 21 and we can have a few beers. Price isn't the most important factor as it looks like it's going to be an expensive weekend anyway!

I thought about driving up, but it's a 400 mile trip each way and the fuel alone would pay for the flights.

Much appreciated,

Cliff
