PARKING TICKET

What do people think ? I parked in Glasgow yesterday but had no change so I went round the corner to buy a bottle of water and get some change and came back to pay for ticket , when i got back to the car there was the dreaded turd bag with the pice of paper under the windscreen wiper Censored time on my ticket 13:40 time on penalty 13:35 .
So here it is, do I contest it or just pay early and reduce it to £30 ?
All thoughts and comment will probably help or entertain . Thumbs Up 2008 MY Supercharged

Contesting it probably won't do you any good as you know they'll hit out with "they all say that" … Rolling Eyes

Plus there are that many CCTV cameras about where you were , problem being trying to find out who controls them and all that jazz to prove that you had just parked Whistle

You should have just nutted the Censored and stuck the ticket to his napper ... Laughing Laughing ====================================

If it's a council ticket you won't have much chance of getting away with it. Easiest to pay at the reduced rate Big Cry

Doubt it, because as soon as you leave your vehicle you are deemed to have parked and they only have to give you sufficient time to walk to a meter, purchase a ticket and return to your car. It's your responsibility to ensure you have means of payment available. However, it really depends on local policy and whether they use photo with time stamp as supporting evidence.

From personal experience, I know some wardens take 2 pictures - one when the vehicle is first seen without valid ticket displayed and another ~5 minutes later to show that the owner was given reasonable timeframe to return with a valid ticket and in doing so immediately invalidate the type of appeal you describe. HOWEVER - if the driver is found returning to the vehicle without a valid ticket, an offence has been committed and penalty notice is still valid (so, if there's a parking warden hanging around your car and you know there is no ticket on it - head to the machine first before you go back to your car!!!)

Always worth a shot though, writing a couple of letters costs peanuts compared to a £30 fine!

I have had mixed results appealing and have been surprised at what worked and what didn't

Both in Westminster:
1. Tried the pay by phone. For some reason (probably my incompetence) it failed but I thought I'd paid. Sent screen shots from my iphone. SUCCESS so I didn't pay at all
2. Tried paying on the webpage for mobiles. I was in a hurry and didn't notice that it defaulted to my other car on the system, so I paid but for the wrong car. REJECTED so I paid for parking AND got a ticket.

I have an outstanding parking ticket from a 'private' firm, the fine started off at £30 and is now up at £300. I have been threatened with bailiffs and all the usual bully boy crap, they intimidate people who don't know any better. Lots of interesting info on the net about the company I have had the letters from and needless to say I won't be paying them a penny.

Best thing to do if you do receive a letter from these scumbags is ignore it, do not reply either by phone or letter
