Just been for a ride in an evoque | |
Friend of mine is specking out 4 for company cars, and i think i did enough to pursade her to go for the evoque over audi q3s which what she was intending to do.
Bit plasticy inside, but otherwise a very nice place to be. The car feels solid, like its been hune out of solid granite. Had the 3 door, which was a to get in and out of the back, but once you were there was cosy. The front seats however were very comfortable. Huge difference with the prestege - the leather feels like a range rover, whist the pure feels like a normal car.
The bluetooth inside is simply fantastic, and makes mine look ancient. had the SD190, but still felt very underpowered (I appreciate i have a TD6, but thats not the point). Also thought the manual box, although very good would have been better as an auto. The electric handbrake was the worst part - but i've never been a fan. Thought the rear visablty would be poor, but with mirrors the size of Leeds, you don't notice it.
I wouldn't swap one for my 6 year old vogue though.
My main critism is the same as the freelander - its a 4x4, not a car, and the designers would do well to remember that. With the best will in the world, it will never handle\accelerate\break\corner etc like a car, so stop trying to make it feel like one, make it feel like a 4x4 with all the opulence of a range rover.
I went looking for a landrover. If i wanted a small car i would buy a 3 series. __________________
