I am not sure what tool to use but it may be a good idea to disconnect the battery when you change it. Just to be on the safe side. You don't want the airbag going off.

If the green badge is glued on try heating it with a hairdryer to soften the glue |

I believe the original one is located with fixing tabs which tuck in and when i pry the badge off some damage will occur to the recess so i have to be careful. The badge isnt connected to anything electrical so shouldnt go off, i hope

Alistair, when the original badge comes off is it still the surface of the airbag underneath or are the internals visible?. I dont want to mess with the airbag by disconnecting the battery / pulling the fuse in fear of activating the warning light |

No internals visible - its a continuous pice of trim with a couple of small holes in it where the badge tabs have been punchd through. What's bebind the badge looks just like the rest of the steering wheel.

I dunno. I don't consider myself a safety nazi, but this is one thing I'm not sure I'd do.
