my friend who fixed my car and serviced the lpg said it would be a good thing to get it remapped as well as he said i could get 30-40 bhp more and 5mpg better as well because the gas is 100 something ron he said thats how you can get that massive boost of bhp


any thoughts on this

It always intrigues me just how you can get more BHP and more MPG with a remap

me to but its all about getting the most out of your ecu

afaik there are two types of mapping, one for more power and the other for more mpg...each map is individually tailored to one or the other.. ... - .- -.

you can get it in between the both so you can get both mpg and bhp

that would be standard then...i dont think you can tbh...when i had mine done the bloke asked which one i wanted and didnt give any other options.. ... - .- -.

he also said its much smoother through the gears and more responsive

thats one thing a map does it makes the gears kick in differently for mpg and for power..for instance for the mpg map the higher gears kick in quicker so you use less fuel.. ... - .- -.

Someone once said "if something sounds to good to be true, it usually isnt." This kind of fits what you have been told. I would be happy to be proven wrong though. A few garages do offer a try before you buy type thing. might be worth chatting to your mate and get him to do that. If something can't be fixed with a hammer....... You have yourself an electrical fault!

Rather than a remap, what you could do is get your cats removed! This could give you a power boost and better mpg!

The only real way to do this with log is a better induction kit, and he cats ripped out then the remap

This from someone who has had lots of power from an lpg installation but with other tweaks as well...

Remaps can, and have been debated until the cows come home.

It seems to be highly competative and very dynamic industry, invoking much argument and opinion on any and every forum and is truly a moderators / forum owners nightmare.

IMHO most remaps can possibly smooth out power delivery and produce extra power and / or economy depending upon how the vehicle is then driven.

But when i first got mine, from possibly the most respected and renowned there is, the improvement in performance was pathetic and worst still my vehicle started to smoke very badly on any acceleration.

I quickly learned that a remap does not provide any kind of quick fix to poor power delivery problems from an existing situation, and actually high lights any existing problems.

I don't know how long the split in my Intercooler hose had been there, but it was a simple 10 quid 2 minute fix, and a mini service replacing what looked like a bit of carpet for an air filter was also cheap and quick to do. I was also astounded to discover how much crap was stuck on the front of my Intercooler, dead birds, feathers and leaves to name but some.

The results of a simple bit of cleaning and maintenence were simply astounding.

I am personally an utter lead foot kinda guy, and truly appreciated the very impressive GTI like appeal of my own TDV6 remap until all the petrol stations closed and i was forced to see how far a tank would actually take me when used in moderation, which was equally impressive.

IMHO getting a remap is a no brainer, regardless of if you want better performance or economy, but it is no substitute for poor maintainence. 2003 4.4 HSE

Mine is a 4.4 V8 BMW M62 engine and remapped by me.

It is also LPG.

It is tweaked to the gas and has sharpened it up and most importantly sorted the throttle pedal being so dull.

I will be improving it further as it still needs a bit more at lower RPM.

I'm very pleased with it. Used to have:
2005 FFRR 4.4 Vogue - BRC LPG Conversion & Remapped

Now have:
2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys
