Front suspension

Went out to the car today and its was down on the O/S/F, jumped in switched on, NO Bing or message on the dash board.

Panicked drove it to my specialist and its at normal height, sprayed with washing up liquid no sign of a leak.

Advised to monitor.

So whilst I'm monitoring any ideas what it might be Three things in a blokes life his dog,his car and a Cornish pasty, nothing else matters.

If still checking for leak, do as stan says, then stand with back to wheelarch and hands under wheelarch, lift.

Could always have been a poorly or confused height sensor? .

Always best practice to change suspension in pairs sir Bow down

Would you change one spring or one strut on a car normally? Whistle

Cheep compressors come up on the bay and lidl/aldi sometimes so worth a punt and the tools in the same places as well. They aren't designed for heavy long term use but are good enough for the odd job here and there.

The airbags on most vehicles can be swapped on their own but with the FF front ones they incorporate the damper as well unlike the rear ones and when the airbag has gone you know that isn't far behind if not already shot as they should on a normal steel sprung car be swapped at about 5-7years old depending on use of course.

One reason i dislike steelie sprung cars, too many old ones waddling around on duff units affecting handling and braking when they are needed most Sad

Anyway rant over!

soak some of the bigger nuts over the next day or two before you do the job in penetrating oil as it will help a lot! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

The big bolts are very tight and probably seized. To get mine off this is what we did:
Wire brush the threads you can see to get things looking as clean as possible.
Repeated applications of penetrating oil over a couple of days.
Blow torch the nut until it just starts to glow.
Smack the bolt with a hammer a couple of times.
Use a long bar 3/4 inch drive and lots of effort.
Use a pry bar to get the bolt out of the strut.

To change a strut took us about 25 minutes. The annoying bit is the 50 quid it cost to get the ecu reset so it would reinflate.

Is there anything wrong with the Dunlop struts?

Yes Mike, the Dunlop struts have been proven to be crap... Not worth the £50 saving in the long run Thumbs Up

Could it be caused by carrying excess weight in the passenger seat? Lol
