United Kingdom 2019 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

Mick,

Mrs RRUK still loves her ML 350 CDi Bluemotion Sport. Although they are not as luxurious as a RR inside, the looks have grown on me, I think its a head turner, especially with the 21" AMG wheels. Hope she likes it. Discovery 4 HSE

2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

The problems with Evoque are not reliability they are 3rd party parts suppliers to the factory -

Problem 1 - one component of the Xenons that is made in China has meant a shortage of completed units so LR has removed the option from the Pure model (existing orders will be fulfilled but no longer an option on cars ordered after 1st week October), they are standard on Dynamic and Prestige models but LR was surprised at the uptake of them on Pure models

Problem 2 - LR contracted all logistics for the Halewood plant to DHL, who then subcontracted supply of additional personnel to an agency. Agency labour were not being paid too well and in view of the success of the car they wanted more money, then walked out...........

Problem 3 - Last weekend the 3rd party supplier of dashboards had a fire at their factory, fortunately the factory had 2 weeks supply but that slowed the line

Problem 4 - There was unfortunately a fatal accident in the body press unit when it appears one of the dies for a rear door of 5 door Evoques trapped the deceased while it was being moved. The HSE has closed that section of the factory until investigations are completed.

There are in excess of 25,000 outstanding UK orders and only 20% of the production is for the UK.................. one Evoque rolls off the production line every 70 secs but many are missing either Xenon headlights, dashboard or a door and are stored in a covered storage facility until supplies are available and they are finished off. It appears that in the last week there has been an increase in UK cars as a whole bunch of members un-expectedly took delivery - they ahd all been tol their car's had been delayed until well into November.

Mine now has 3500 miles on it, hasn't missed a beat, I regularly get 38mpg out of it, there is no problem with rear or over the shoulder visibility and the mirrors have to be the size they are because of new EU rules that apparrently relate mirror size to frontal area, so all new designs will have the same problem - including L405. It's like all things, you get used to the rear visibility and the car comes as standard with a rearview camera and rear parking sensors. I also specced the Blind Spot Monitoring system (it's actually a Volvo supplied part!) but find I don't really need it.

Orders for the car have totally overwhelmed LR and their systems and some dealers have reported that sales of other Range Rovers is well up due to the increased foot fall in showrooms - possible Evoque buyers are trying and buying Freelander2's D4's or RRS's instead. Audi has just launched a new lower spec TT at £24000 with a 1.8TFSi engine in response to lost sales of that car to RRE, BMW is busy upgrading the X1 as they too are loosing sales to the Evoque. All this means there will be plenty of money in the kitty for LR to properly develop L405 and I suspect some of the goodies in the Evoque are there to trial them for the next FFRR and RRS - remote controlled motorised tailgate, Magneride3, Meridian Audio/Video systems (any Evoque with the HDD nav. can watch Video on the front screen from files on a memory stick or from DvD).

What's missing - the superb 8 speed gearbox that the XF and 2012 Freelander2 have mated to the same engine and a faster seat motor for the Coupe, that's all so far. Disappointments so far - the fuel economy is a long way off the official figures - my car should be getting an official Combined of 43.5mpg - I'm getting 38, all my previous Range Rovers have achieved or bettered the Govt Combined figure at similar milages.

I must admit it has turned out to be more of a mini FFRR than the Freelander2 every was. The car grips the road like a limpet and is with magneride totally roll free in fast cornering.

Due to the above problems and short supply some non franchise dealers and not a few owners are selling on new cars - I believe the average premium is now up to £7000 so if you were offered one at less mark up then the seller wasn't trying very hard! Dealers do have cars to sell from stock and if a dealer offered you a "stock" car at a mark up then you should report it to LR. Unfortunately the dealer stock have none or very few of the "essential" options. These are the Panoramic roof (absolutely essential in a Coupe with a black interior), 20" wheels, heated steering wheel, Tech pack on a Pure, Lux pack (every imaginable electric goodie) on the Prestige and Dynamics. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Financially, I think an Evoque would have been a safer bet (especially as the all-new ML was launched a few months back).

They're not all being stored under cover I drove past the factory on the way to work and saw lots with no head light units in at all.

Glad to hear your experiences with the ride are good Tim.

The guy I bought my house off is pretty impressed and he echoed what you said about both reliability and ride comfort. Thumbs Up

Mick, knowing how you love to swap wheels, the ML looks REALLY nice on the 21" AMG 5 star alloys, makes a huge difference to the look of the car.

I'll try and post a pic at some time of Mrs RRUK's Discovery 4 HSE

Very nice Adam , but i'm dreading what she'll do to the 20's never mind 21's , as she has a habit of forgetting kerbs are at the side of the road ... Rolling Eyes ====================================

They were launched in June, available in the UK at the beginning of next year - all-new, this is it:
