United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Rimini Red
advice for TD6 parts

Hi All,

Put the TD6 into main dealer for a service today. First off they used magnetec oil. I thought it should be edge fully synthetic, can anyone confirm?

Anyway,

The cold face vents. Diagnosed as centre vents and cable required £448.61 ! (Has anyone any knowledge of this setup re repair?)

Rear upper and lower ball joints worn (Drop links?) I knew these were due changing when I bought the car £459.36 fitted prices by the way

front lower arm bushes and ball joints worn - Arms required £261.77 (Both sides) then re alignment £108 (Yeh right!)

Ref the suspension parts. Has anyone any experience of after market and the quality / price or do I bite the bullet and go genuine (I get trade discount)

looking forward to some feedback on this one Thumbs Up 08 model TDV8 Vogue SE Rimini Red/ parchment. 04 TD6 Vogue Oslo Blue / parchment

My local main dealer did not use edge either, just gtx according to the invoice.
My front ball joints were worn, there are 3 each side at the bottom, 2 needed replacing, the track rod and the control arm. I bought britpart spares on eBay and fitted myself. There are some great guides on this site to walk you through it. I got the 4 parts for around £100 and saved over £400 from the quote the dealer gave me. The handling on my FFRR has been transformed.
If you are a DIY guy, then I would recommend you tackle what you can. You could always get the alignment checked if you wanted when finished. Previously..

Hi Dan

I assume the prices are fitted prices mate.

It was a sub note on the bottom of the invoice.

I can do them myself but to be honest I would probably get the specialist in Canterbury to do them for me.

Also, Mr Duckworth sir, I emailed the other day regarding towing electrics. Did you receive it? Thumbs Up

Contraband. I'll have a look around. Just worrying if the pattern parts have a decent life expectancy.

Also. for anyone who's interested.

BMW (my mate works there) have put a directive out to all dealers that only 0w30 oil should be used in any of their engines apart from M series!

As the TD6 is a BMW engine is why I raised the question about magnetec. Thumbs Up 08 model TDV8 Vogue SE Rimini Red/ parchment. 04 TD6 Vogue Oslo Blue / parchment

In the UK Castrol recommended oil is 5W-40 Edge [b]Diesel
In Australia we have to go with Castrol 0W-40 Edge
