Time to sell my RR...

....and buy a new one Very Happy

I bought my SC a year ago as an addition to the stable to be used on the odd occasion for trips to the tip, carrying 5 people, when it snows etc thinking I will drive about 4,000 miles a year. But what has happened? I drive it everyday, work and social and racked up 25,000 in the last year, no problems; you know the reasons why, I don't need to spell it out. So now I need to rethink as the RR is MY2006, out of any warranty, 55k on the clock and spends a lot of time in the petrol station. So what to do..

My thoughts, trade in the SC for a one year old 3.6TDV8, 2010 model high spec. At about £55,000 I see this as value for money compared to a 4.4TDV8. Drive it everyday, under warranty, increased mpg, 2010 gadgetry.

Will I miss the power? Will I miss the RSE? Should I shell out a lot more for the 4.4? Should I wait for the L405? Should a buy a Prius (joking)?

Thoughts, comments? I've seen a nice example at Harwoods Brighton. Current MY2020
Gone: 1 x L405 and 2 x L322's

If you look on the LR website there are some very nice 2010 3.6TDv8 VSE's which have RSE and at your budget even the odd Autobiography too............ but there are loads of 4.4's too but not many down at £55k yet! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I'd go for a much simpler route.

Are you happy with it currently?
Is it reliable?

Would you prefer to save a shed load in depreciation over the next 3-4yrs?

If yes to all of the above then it's simples Wink

Get a GOOD log conversion, then take out a good warranty on it.
1st year investment would be about 3.5k roughly,
Second year would be the warranty cost which is about £800-1000

I'd say stick with it ad what money you would have had to splash on a newer machine out into a savings account and use it in 3-4yrs to buy a slightly used L405 if you like it or a last of the line L322 AB with a gait deposit to hand in with your sc Smile

@ Tim: time to have a good look and not go for the first one I see.

@ Kingpleb: a good idea, but I also want a newer RR with the TFT screen, modern interior, iPod....I just like the latest gadgets! Not everything is covered under warranty and things start to fall off after a few years.

@ Dave: I hope it's a typo too...or maybe it's not a bad idea as petrol prices rise. Current MY2020

True but then it depends on the warranty you buy, some are worse than others i've heard...

It also depends on how well you have taken care of yours too i guess.

IMO if you know the car and like it most of the time then save your cash, even for a bit and enjoy the car with some upgrades like LPG and so on Smile
