Door lock

For the past month my passenger door has been locked solid - wouldn’t open with the key fob or using the central locking button on the dash. Haven done a few searches I realized this wasn’t going to be a cheap fix so called into my local indy yesterday for an opinion and was told that this is a common problem. I was quoted £200 + to fix (which included a new door lock). The mechanic said the problem they have is trying to get into the door which is time consuming and requires them to remove the door card ect from the inside. I am fairly competent at car DIY but didn’t think this was something which I should attempt myself so was going to call them tomorrow to book it in.

VERY STRANGE but this morning I literally pushed a few of the fuses in the rear compartment and tried the key fob and the passenger door opened! Unfortunately, the door will not lock now and the central locking button on the dash has stopped working?

Has anyone had similar experiences and/or recommendations of how this needs fixing? I hoping that now the door is open I will be able to do the repairs myself.

Many thanks
Mike

Thanks. Think it must be a broken lock/mechanism as central locking system it now working. Bought a new lock mechanism from Duckworths today and having it fitted on Friday. Hopefully, this will do the trick!

I had same problem on both doors, new lock mechanisms on both sides cured the problem.

Quite an easy job, but don't disconnect the airbag unit when moving it to get to the lock. Don't know why you can't do this but I remember being told that I must not do it when I carried out the repair. If you like it, who cares what other people think
