Approach Lights in Wing Mirrors not working

After a bit of a false start earlier this week I am going to have another go at investigating my approach lights.

First of, car is a 2005 SC, so not covered by Rave, I think. How safe am I using the circuit diagrams from Rave, how many of the systems changed in the early days of Ford ownership?

Have found a few bits downloaded from Topix including this:

Quote:
DOOR MIRROR APPROACH LAMPS
The exterior mirror housings are fitted with a lamp which illuminates the area below the front door. The approach lamps
comprise a housing located inside the mirror and bulb holder with harness connector. The housing contains a plastic lens
which directs a beam of light in the required area. The approach lamps use a capless 6W bulb.
The lamps are controlled by the GEM, via a dedicated relay which is located at the rear of the passenger compartment
fusebox.

So, how do I get to this relay? I take it we are talking about the fusebox in the glove compartment? No obvious relays there. Do I have to get behind the fusebox somehow.

Can anyone point me at a wiring diagram for the interior lights for a 2005.

Thanks

David

Both bulbs checked and good.

These are the rectangular lenses, not the earlier round ones.

Lens removed from mirror by tilting the mirror glass fully up and in, then a slot is visible below the mirror glass into which a screwdriver can be inserted to push a spring catch on the lens towards the inboard end of the mirror, releasing the lens.

Easy once you have done one!

Any thoughts about that relay location, or a wiring diagram (2005).

Check to see if the relay is in the boot compartment on the right side.

Well of course.

Fuse 14 should be blank, Fuse 17, 3 to the right, (for the approach lights) has a good fuse in it so that can't be it.

Except on closer inspection the blank space is not 14! For some reason, 14 had a fuse in it, and the blank space was 3 to the right....

Fuse moved from 14 to 17 and all is right with the world.

Seems that FFRRs' like to move their fuses around when the owners aren't watching Shocked
