Yet another steering column/motor issue

Hi all I have read as many posts Re the above as I can until I am now square eyed! The issue I have is that the steering column is in my lap when I get in the car the motor clicks when you try to adjust the up/down movement but nothing happens the in/out is fine. I think one of the "lugs" may have broken off as previous people Have found. I was wondering if anyone else had found any solutions to this rather than going to the stealers for a replacement column, eg a blob of weld or something to stop the max adjustment being reached?

Thanks in advance
