BMW didnt build the L322. Or have anything to do with its initial design. They did however have everything to do with its cost cutting.

They never wanted it to compete with the X5 - making sure that the RR had out of date BMW tech.

The MK3 nav is years and years old, even the key is from a 1991 BMW!

Look where Land Rover went after BMW sold them and Ford took over. Touch screen DVD based nav, far superiour entertainment system, built in bluetooth as well as many many other toys.

To top it off, the ONLY components that have ever failed on my M62 engined RR's have had a BMW stamp on them. The PCV system fault has been present in every M62 pwered BMW from the 90's, the header tanks have been splitting on BMW's for decades and BMW have been aware that organic coolant causes the plastics in the coolant system to fail after a few years (out of warranty) yet the long life coolant means they never have to change the coolant within the free service period. The dash pixels failing always have been epic fail on BMW's too.

So to summise. Yes, I wonder where Land Rover would be if BMW hand't bought them and asset stripped the company!

Im no expert on land rover as a manufacturer. Im just going off past experience and friends family experience of land rovers.

The disco of the 90's, the freelander and the old range rover not the best track record for reliability. The l322 from reading had something like £1bil spent on development which I doubt rover would have had spent had BMW not been involved, surely they would of built a cut price 4x4 probably based on the rover 75 like the freelander on the 200!!

Anyway like I say no idea about the history or background of LR just the impression I get from forums like this are they have issues in customer service and reliability.

But doubt Cheryl Cole is easy to live with either Wink

Sammy - Welcome to FFRR and sorry to hear of your problems. I had the Check Engine light come on this afternoon during a gentle drive home after walking the dog.

Hope you get your issue sorted soon and we can both get back to FFRR love Razz 2006 Supercharged

EH have emailed me to say take it to a LR specialist and they will sort no matter what it is. They dont want me to go to a LR dealership though, which is fair enough I suppose as they could just say take it back to them to sort.

Any idea of a decent LR specialist in Manchester!??
