couple of questions on the 04 TD6

Hi guys,
Couple of questions if you don mind.

Took the TD6 to the NEC this weekend being a 500 mile round trip.

The centre air vent in the dash. Should blow hot / cold? Mine only blows cold even if the temperature is turned up to full and the knurled know turned to 3 spots red? Any suggestions please?

Also,

Booked it in Thursday for a gearbox oil and filter change. I noticed when hot today (after 200 miles) it was hanging in low gears and not changing up unitl about 2500 rpm under light throttle. I assume the oil is losing it's lubricity properties and needs changing asap. Cold it's perfect. Pulling away from a set of lights (after 250 miles) there was a jolt in the change from 1st to 2nd. Apart from that and slow going into reverse when hot it's as smooth as silk. Only 76k miles and no hard use previous.

Apart from that the car ran ace! As I'm used to older P38's and the TDV8 which are totally different technologies I thought I'd ask Thumbs Up as these may be "normal" attributes on the TD6?

I have taken a 3 year top warranty out on the car as well. 08 model TDV8 Vogue SE Rimini Red/ parchment. 04 TD6 Vogue Oslo Blue / parchment

Which one did you go for, and if you don't mind sharing how much was it? Graham

~Hi Graham

I took one out with warrantywise for 3 years unlimited mileage. (Went by recomendation from a forum sponsor).

The cost was just over £2k for the warranty, Platinum cover which covers everything including, Aircon, Cats, Stereo equipment etc.

Also wear and tear and subsequential damage.Plus continental cover etc.

On speaking with them it also covers (If required) main dealer labour rates. I went for the lower £75 / hour as you can use any VAT registered garage for servicing and repairs. If a major component fails they have accounts with many outlets for the supply and replacement of a lot of parts.

My thinking (As car has full dealer history) is that if a gearbox fails that will cover the warranty fee. Equally if the nav unit fails or any other component I wont have the hassle of trying to fund the repair. It will continue to be main dealer serviced but other works will be carried out by my trusted specialist in Canterbury.

Hope that helps Thumbs Up 08 model TDV8 Vogue SE Rimini Red/ parchment. 04 TD6 Vogue Oslo Blue / parchment

Great, thanks Thumbs Up Seems pretty good value at £2k for three years for a very comprehensive package. Graham

It is,

Have a look at their website. They are overseen by Quentin Wilson , who like or loath, seems pretty upfront and says what he thinks.

Also they pay out on over 84% of claims.

I was quoted by another company Warranty ........t who want £700 for a year but would only cover to 100,000 miles and that was it.

I'll probably move the TDV8 and my 530D to them as well. Got to be cheaper than paying for the delaer warranties?! 08 model TDV8 Vogue SE Rimini Red/ parchment. 04 TD6 Vogue Oslo Blue / parchment

Right. I also like the idea of getting three years in one go. Graham

Got to be worth it mate.

Unlimited mileage. They seem very flexible on using VAT registered garages etc.

Also, as warranty companies go they seem to have a reasonable reputation for sorting things out.

Final arbitration goes to Mr Wilson himself if you have any issues 08 model TDV8 Vogue SE Rimini Red/ parchment. 04 TD6 Vogue Oslo Blue / parchment
