2006 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
Identify my car!

Hi all, new to this site. Have owned a Series III and a P38 in the past and just taken the plunge into L322 ownership with a nice 2006 Java Black Vogue 4.4.

Since the car was first registered in Oct 2006, I assumed it is/was the facelift/Jaguar model, but a few little things have made me wonder (mostly because I don't know the detail differences!). Mine has been "Supercharged", by which I mean S/C grille & vents, etc, but mechanically otherwise standard as far as I know.

The two things which I'm wondering at the moment:

1, it's Java Black - were the 2006-on models Java or Santorini?

2, there's something to do with a towbar under the back (of which more in a minute!) and I thought that the 2006-on model didn't have any towing equipment as standard?

I guess a very simple check would be the engine - what should I look for to differentiate between the BMW and Jag lumps?

Re the towbar, I was/am just about to shell out for a bar, but under the back of the car there are two big brackets either side running front-back with Westfalia stickers on them. Part number for the offside one is KPU 500100 which translates into LR012162 and this seems to be part of a Westfalia towbar (from what I can find on the web). There is a large keyhole-shape hole in each bracket and looking here http://www.autoshop-wimmer.de/showCarPartD...mp;mode=lr it looks like a detachable crossmember is available to fit in. If that's the case and if I can get hold of a detachable flange-type bar for it then might be easier than fitting a whole new bar?

Anyway, all assistance on the above greatfully received, and I'm quite certain I'll be back with more questions soon, if that's OK!

re the towbar, it sounds like you have the standard landrover fitted towbar..if you havnt got the 'bit' that fits into the square hole then they are available on ebay ,either in the swan two piece type or the fixed bar with a flange on it..

fixed bar .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-L322...4842103afb

welcome to the forum btw.. ... - .- -.

Mine's an '07 4.4 V8 and its Java black...

Sure someone will correct if i'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Jag 4.4 V8 appeared in the same facelift as the touch screen infotainment, venturecam etc. so if you have that, you should also have the modified Jag AJ-V8..

There's a picture of a nice and clean engine bay with the beemer unit in a previous post below if you wnat to do a quick visual check...

It sounds very likely to be a facelift, if you post a photo of the engine we'll be able to tell you straight off. On the facelift the headlights were not quite rectangular, on the inside there's a semi circular incursion into the grill.

On the facelift the satnav will be touchscreen, but this applies to the 2005 model too.

Big giveaway is that on the facelift it has 6 speeds instead of 5, so go into manual mode and check it out. If you have 6 you definitely have the Jag engine.

My 2006 MY supercharged RR is Java black, so I think that is a 'facelift colour'.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

I would like a picture of your under carriage as that sounds very familiar to the standard setup that I just took off mine.

They also have the hangers in for the back box iirc

Thanks all - yes, I have 6 speeds, touch screen, etc, and the engine is different from the BMW unit on the link above, (it has what I can best describe as 8 staggered cream/white bars running across the engine) so I'm reassured!

Ref the towbar, what I think I would need (if such a thing exists) is the crossmember which fit to the two brackets either side. In the link in my original post, you can see the part I mean.

And THEN I can buy someone's flange detachable bit! (Unless you have all the bits I need as above??)

That would be the Armature! I think you can probably get the whole lot for around £350. Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

I understand the pictures a little better now Smile

From what i saw on other posts of these forsale, was that the crossemember section was part of the whole lot and not available as a stand alone.

If it is then i may have to take my back bumper off and get myself one, would look a wee bit tidier but i've got mine looking good at the minute and need to get some new piccies up of her, probably do is this week when im rested from a night shift and not counting Sheep at 1500hrs Sad

This post picture is a bit cleared so i think that link at the top may be right that its a solo unit that can be added in. i'd still think it would need man handling to get in but its easily doable if you can change a 20vt oil filter Wink

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged Java Black

The following thread contains some excellent photos of the main westfalia tow bar components.

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic7442.html?highlight=tow

The existing westfalia parts (that contain the towing eye) need to be removed and the armature attaches using the same bolts.

You can download the fitting instructions from topix

http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/vehicle/index?cat=OWNER#

Select 'New Range Rover' enter you model year, select 'Owner' then 'Accessory Fitting Instructions' then 'Towing'.

Ha ha, small world and all that!

I still have mine, in fact I just collected it back from Rog after some work this evening. Had a Monaro, a P38, a Ford ranger and one or two others in between, but the FFRR is new (to me) this weekend.

I'll PM you the whole tale when I get a moment - do you know/remember CarlT?

Thanks Justin. I was hoping that the crossmember would bolt up to the brackets already on the car, which would have made things easier. My alternative is a Tow Trust towbar which has a detachable flange hitch (included) for a shade over £200, so if I've got to remove the bumper anyway I may just go for that one.
