How old is your battery? Have you had it tested recently? Are you sure that the lights are the cause of your problem and not a failing battery throwing erroneous fault codes?

I don't see why the rear lights should give you faults in engine / emissions ecu's. However many incorrect faults are caused by a battery beginning to go!

I've been getting a couple on my car, catalyst below efficiency/ reduced engine performance/ gearbox fault, and yesterday the battery failed to start the car after just a few minutes leaving the key in ignition, so I'm getting it replaced to today, and I bet if fixes the fault codes. Thumbs Up

you may have a point there these l322s do need a strong battery i will have to check it out
but its strange the fault goes when you put the old lights back in
another thing to think of is if you unplug the rear lights the engine wont tickover so they must have an effect on the management system , why i dont know very strange 1990 3.5 v8 defender
