I don't see why the rear lights should give you faults in engine / emissions ecu's. However many incorrect faults are caused by a battery beginning to go!

I've been getting a couple on my car, catalyst below efficiency/ reduced engine performance/ gearbox fault, and yesterday the battery failed to start the car after just a few minutes leaving the key in ignition, so I'm getting it replaced to today, and I bet if fixes the fault codes.
