Service question

Hi Gang

Did a search to no avail but I need to book my 2010 FF in for a service and wonder which one it needs.

It had a service last year at my trusty indy and got oil/air/fuel filter change, oil change and screen wash. Does is it possible to suggest from that which service it would have ben or is that a silly question - I hear of inspection 1, 2 amongst others.

Just wondering what I might be in for money wise (i.e. a big one or not)

As the car has just turned 85K I've also asked for a price on gearbox oil change. No untoward symptoms or issues but preventative as per many many threads on here

Thanks Ash

Good info but I cant get it to enlarge - does that actually say 150k miles for autobox oil change (towards the bottom). Who would leave it that long? Big Cry 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

GULP - I just spoke to my indy when I dropped the car off - his estimate at the point is the B service plus a full Gearbox oil/filter change will come in at around £800-900

Is this about right.I trust him to do a good job but that is a lot. He said it;s a full GB oil change so will drain the box, intercooler, sump etc. New sump/filter

Hey Ho... Its only money I guess. Big Cry Ash

Make sure he is using the correct oil for the box, any yes it is pricey!

Iirc an Indy would be about £400ish for the service, the gearbox service kit is not cheap with the oils etc about £260incl vat for the genuine stuff and gen filter, tho these are usually filtrans ones anyway, plus a bit of labour on the box service, so you are there or thereabouts £800. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi Gang

No update as to cost yet for the service (cos I said I was not in a rush to pick the car up today) but the report has come back with a clean bill of health apart from "Both rear shocks have slight leaks"

I know Gaz you have mentioned on other posts that "most" Full Fats have dampness around the rear shocks and my indy said worth keeping an eye on them cos they cost £650 +VAT each from LR plus fitting..!

Could I ask however, would these be what he is referring to..? (Linky..?

They say direct replacement and have Continous Variable Damping. These are £265 inc VAT...

I will hold off anyway for now but just planning for the future... Ash

they appear to be vin specific, so without that its tricky to tell

have a look at www.lrparts.ru (its russian microcar but there is an english button) and with your vin you can get the part no and search for that. Thumbs Up its picture driven so you can navigate it easily, you will want; g-cat 2010-, chassis, springs struts and shocks, rear struts and shocks less armoured with cont variable damping, then click on the 5a669 in blue and match up your vin. Thumbs Up[/url]

edit..... just had a quick look on lrdirect as they tell what supersedes what, and the part no are LR023573 for the RH damper and LR023580 for the LH. so the one in your link would be the LH damper for a 2010 with adaptive damping There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks both for the advice

I will wait and see what happens then based on this - I suspect it has been like it for sometime and has not been picked up on any MOT so far - No affect on ride either so will just monitor it.

Incidentally - Picked the car up tonight from my Indy and it drives VERY VERY Smoothly now it has had the GB oil/filter changed. I never had "any symptoms" anyway but did it as preventative but it has made a BIG difference. I almost cannot feel the gear changes now at all.I only see the revs drop and sound change a little.

(but the service did end up costing me £1073...!! (he did full inspection and all oils/filters including GB oil/filter and brake fluid etc - so she is in tip top health at least.) Ash

Sorry for hijacking an old thread but does anyone know how many litres of Auto gearbox oil are needed for a fluid change. (4.4 TDV8 8 speed)? - without filter change.

The WSM does not say as it is filled for life ( Rolling with laughter ).
