Update on my FFRR Supercharged and iPod...

Hi All,

Here is an update on my 2006MY FFRR Supercharged.

I bought the car a few weeks ago from CHPR; James and the team done a really good deal for me.

I picked the car up a week later and during handover discovered a few problems:

Bluetooth not working
DVD player not working
iPod not functioning properly
there were a few other minor things...

The car went back in for a week and all I can say is the guys have done a cracking job! They have got by Blackberry working with address book; iPod is now working via steering wheel control and also displays names of album / track on the navigation screen (they got this working despite being told by others it can't be done). The DVD player is also fixed.

The team at CHPR have been excellent; they put me in a decent loan car (which my mum is considering buying) and kept me fully appraised on work being carried out on the car.

Big thanks to James and Paul at CHPR.

Nothing against CHPR, I've heard good things about them Thumbs Up But with the faults you listed, it didn't sound to me they've done the inspection properly in the first place, and I wouldn't describe a Freelander as decent... Rolling Eyes

I have to agree that the car could have been checked over better before i collected it but credit to CHPR; they aknowledged the problems and dealt with them in a professional way.

In my opinion the loan car was very good, 1000 miles on the clock and fully loaded; when i owned my RRsport Guy Salmon used to give me crap loan cars...

As for the iPod; it is the original Land Rover kit with usb and aux and a switch to go back to CD changer...It seems to be working fine with the bluetooth phone.

On another note, i just drove back home on the motorway and noticed that the headlight beam was moving about like the lights are loose...is this normal with adaptive lights?

Cheers

Do you mean slight wobble? Mine are solid except when the car hit a bump, then a slight wobble..they shouldn't move about if you're travelling straight line on motorway.

Thanks Minleaf for the mention, it's much appreciated, as was your patience whilst we sorted out the software! Thumbs Up

The infotainment issue was down to us trying to flash the car with the latest software to ensure that the functionality with the Blackberry were the very latest version. Unfortunately unbeknown to us, although the vehicle is post 05my (touch screen) there is a point where the versions are too advanced for that model and it caused a conflict with the systems. We therefore reflashed the system with the appropriate version but as up-to-date as possible and hey-presto!!! Thumbs Up Unfortunately we were trying to be too helpful with handing it over with the most up-to-date software, but obviously got it wrong........... hand's up! Embarassed

As regards the headlights, it has not had a shunt. Obviously we are happy to look at it, however the adaptive lights compared to fixed Xenon's do flicker to a certain extent (worst usually under braking over a slightly uneven tarmac surface). As you know, I'm in and out of RR's all the time and until 6th April (BIK - Benefit In Kind Taxation) ran one myself as a company car (changing every 90 days) so can confirm that flickering is normal, however it does depend to what extent. Monitor it, and if you would like us to check it for you then just say the word! Cool

Loan cars............ We run a fleet of Freelander 2's, all Automatic except for one. These are the vehicles that we loan to customers for service and repair work. If we do drop the ball with a recent purchased vehicle then generally one of our demo's will be given to the customer, and in this case it was the Service Manager's vehicle which was an 09 plate TD4 Auto HST FL2 with a few bells and whistles. As the BIK changed, we run a total of 21 FL2's and only one each of everything else Rolling Eyes . Obviously the vehicles where we only have 'one each of' are on static display at the dealership and are only used when someone requires a demonstration. So going forward, any vehicle that we loan to a customer will certainly be an FL2 or hopefully some time soon we'll have a few Range Rover LRX's or whatever they are going to be called. Cool

Again Mintleaf, many thanks for your patience; it really was a pleasure dealing with such a genuinely nice guy and great fun dealing with you over the purchase. We'll keep in touch regarding the headlight situation, and if there's anything else then let myself or Paul Know.

Have a good Bank Holiday,

James Thumbs Up

Pat on the back to CHPR Thumbs Up What other Dealership would take the time out to reply to a Forum.

Dealerships up here take your money , Don't bother their arse about informing you about any warranty or software updates , Don't even bother to help to sort any niggles without charging you for it , BUT when the car is out of warranty all of a sudden they are your best friend ......W Censored R'S

So top Marks to CHPR , GOT TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT'S DUE , I SAY Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

( pity there's not one up here ) Big Cry

To be fair they are pretty hard things to check. I don't suppose many dealers have an iPod around just to check the units' functionality, and the bluetooth might work with one brand but not another, so also hard to check.

Anyway, as long as the issues are resolved satisfactorily, that's all that counts Thumbs Up

I have to say, I'm impressed with the CHRP response to the comments. Pity I live in Bury, bit of a long way to go for a service. As an aside ,if James or Andy from CHRP are reading the posts again, maybe you know whether LR are going to provide an'in line' freeview upgrade for touchscreen FFRRs. Dealers I spoke to earlier last year were unaware of any . Link to my topic below if you know anything or indeed , have already done 3rd party upgrades to exisiting standard kit...
