mrsite.com is easy but not sure how much it can do
how does the vat work if you set up a shop on ebay selling new things ?
do you need to become vat registered ?

I have set up a few e-commerce sites using a free piece of software called Zencart - its very professional (I ran a shop from it problem free for 5 yrs) its relatively simple to use, and is supported with some excellent support tutorials etc.

I run a retail site for a living so I know what's involved... first off, Have you got your own dedicated server?

I run software called magento, it's free and much much better than zencart or OS Commerce, same software the major high street retailers use but it's so powerful it requires a dedicated server, not a shared one.. and they don't come cheap. Then again it is the FFRR of the ecommerce world

You may be able to rent one from the developers though, see http://www.magentocommerce.com .. there's also a demo there but for a real demo, check out john lewis site, debenhams or next etc...

Martin said in his services post that he deals with magento so worth a PM him first

The real problem you'll have is not the technical one but the marketing/google ranking one.. getting people to your site is hard at the best of times depending on what you are selling..

In short, unless you have your own unique product and if your ebaying is going well, I'd keep using ebay.

if you have got a unique product that nobody else is selling, PM me... might be able to sort something out Wink

Cant help with the hosting and design bit per se but if you want some half decent server kit, or desktops to help get you going drop me a line as i have some kit still left and being from here ill give a donation to the forum for each unit sold Smile

I;ve used Mr site before and its not bad for the 1st year but their renewals aren't cheap.

I'd deffo give Martin and bell though as his rate seems VERY VERY good for what it includes and he has a few sites under his belt now to say the least! Very Happy
