Genuine Land Rover Apple CarPlay

Interesting article on Piston Heads today...

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-britis...iges/49708

Interesting JLR are announcing this for a car that went out of production 13 years ago... maybe they're starting to realise that the late L322's are sought after amongst enthusiasts.

No mention of price but what does the panel think? Four figures, I presume. 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green over sand

The original screens are very noticeably poor resolution compared to alternative newer screens, but neither comes cheap.

You could be right Stan, but it does say “ shame it doesn’t include update in screen quality “
Too late for me anyway, now I have upgraded to newer, larger screen. Thumbs Up

I read last night that Porsche charge £1350 for their upgrade which doesn’t include fitting.

There’s already after market options available for the 2010-2012 L322 which is £650.

The FAQ’s say it takes a full day to fit so with labour I can see it being nearer £2k, possibly slightly more.

It comes with a 2 year warranty though. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Reading it again and looking at the FAQ's, to enter CarPlay you press and hold the red hang up button on the steering wheel. This is exactly the same way you access the system using the aftermarket kit.

I wonder if this is essentially the kit they're supplying with a Land Rover logo on it. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Having watched Sam's M&M video on what he did, I'd have a go myself and allow a weekend at a steady pace. 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green over sand

Seeing as how well the 10.25” Android units blend into the L322 dash - this is the right way to do it in my opinion. Brings a lot more than just CarPlay/Android Auto and is a lot less money even if you don’t install it yourself. 👍

It does cost that sort of money for the Porsche upgrade but you are getting a complete new in dash unit including screen rather than just an add on box whilst retaining the screen.
