Horn not working

Onto another of my faults to fix the horn on the car isn't working. First check was the fuse which revealed it was blown and after fitting another it blew after using the horn again. The relay is fine as the resistance across the coil read fine on the multimeter.

This afternoon I removed the front bumper to gain access to the horn to verify the type fitted to the car so that I could order the correct part if needed. With this access I fed 12V directly to the horns which surprisingly they fired into life, however, after fitting an inline 15A fuse it blew that almost straight away. Out of curiosity I upped it to a 20A which never blew, however, the coil on one of the horns was too hot to touch after some extended use.

Am I correct in assuming that I have an internal fault on the horn? Unfortunately its the twin pack horn so I don't think that I can replace them individually as they appear to be hard wired together.

Thanks

Update

One new horn from Land Rover later and I'm back up and running with a functioning horn, no longer need to gesticulate at cyclists now... simply toot the horn Smile
