Tyres maybe? I had similar with my tyres a few weeks ago, changed them and noise is gone. When the old tyres were removed, Found a bulge on the inside. Check pressures and tread for uneven wear. Hopefully a cheap and cheerful fix. Either that or centre prop bearing wearing out, quite common on the 4.4 TDV8. |

Hi and thanks for reply ..never considered tyres ...i ll get them checked ...i was coming to conclusion that my noise could be rear bearing transfer case ..but your centre bearing idea maybe first port of call..its make me mind up time..been trying find some one who can raise four wheels to do stethescope test on said parts but hens teeth comes to mind thanks again Mike |

Hiya mike that's ok, where in Brum are you? There's a few Indies in the Midlands that would help diagnose the centre prop bearing. I'm sure if you raise the suspension and leave a door open, crawl underneath and see if you have play in the bearing. But like you say the noise disappears after a bit of driving, the tyres would have warmed up and noise then goes. Saab 9-5's were notorious for road noise when wearing down and pressures, if you got cheap Chinese tyres on or budget, that could be the culprit. |
