5.0 Supercharged Fuel Gauge

For a while now I’ve suspected a fault with the fuel gauge on my 2012 5.0 L322.

The handbook says it’s a 105 litre fuel tank. When I fill the tank it gives me a range of 370ish miles which I think is probably about right.

When the gauge is on the mark above empty, the fuel light is on and the indicated range is showing 30 miles. Again, this seems about right, however, with 30 miles range left in the tank I can only ever get 80 litres in the tank.

Last night when filling up, 3 or 4 clicks got the pump to exactly 80 litres.

What are other 5.0 owners experiencing when at the pumps?

I’m grateful mine under reads and that I don’t run out but with 80 litres of range it feels like it’s needing forever filled up and that’s annoying me.

I’ve bought the bits to do the common fuel gauge fix but I’m not convinced that it’s going to fix this fault as that’s normally for when the gauge stops working all together I believe.

Thanks

Hi, sounds like yours does underread, all driver dependent of course, but driving normally I tend to get 415 miles range when filling and it’s definitely around 96/97 litres go in, allowing for what’s left in the tank as it’s never left to go completely empty 2009 (2010 MY) 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography

I've certainly managed to get in ~100l if I run it right down.

When full typically my range is 400 miles +- a bit, but I do drive it fairly gently and try to include plenty of motorway driving so it's not just stuck in London traffic doing 8mpg...!
