SVA Dynamic seats and boot space

I have had my 3.6 Facelift Vogue SE for over 9 years now (bought from a fellow forum owner) and it has been a brilliant car. I would love an L460 but they are out of range for my budget.

I do less than 4k miles a year in the FFRR it turns out so this time I thought why not consider a Supercharged, this soon led me down the road to looking at SV autobiography dynamics which have the much nicer (in my opinion) quilted seats. I test drove a facelift 18 model year car yesterday. What a thing! I loved it

All good until I opened the boot and found out the seriously lacking boot space compared to my L322 (and my old mans L460) Am I correct in saying all 18 on SVA's have those executive seats? I don't care about the comfort of the rear seat passengers but I do care about my dog in the boot Smile

I looked at a late 17 model year non facelift car on Autotrader and it appears the boot is bigger? I don't care about the seats folding flat just the usable normal boot space. What are the disadvantages of the 17MY cars, just looks like you miss the extra screen at the bottom of the dash? What else are you missing out on?

Well having a 17 pre-facelift I obviously think they're fine. Things that I've heard about the later ones that may be important to you:

The later seats/headrests look a little more comfy - but '17s are fine and I've not tried '18s.
The comms is 3G and the 3G network is switching off. Still not clear to me what I'm going to loose.
The seat switches on the door card rather than on the seat sqab is much better - but very rarely used once set and in the memory.
Security improved and not yet backdated to the '17s - but switch off keyless and the problem goes away and I'm fully qualified on using a fob button.

Will be interested to hear what others have found to be different/better post face lift - its obvs where I'm looking to go next.

Oh edited to say the boot is smaller than the L322 but not dramatically and really should be fine for even a very large dog. Mike - MPx

Thanks. None of that sounds a deal breaker to me. Want to sell me yours?! 😁

I know the L405 boot is slightly smaller but the car I looked at had a much shallower boot than a normal L405 due to the recline seats and the panel that is behind them. The 17 MY car I have seen looks not as bad but hard to tell from a photo.

The issue is when we go away with the dog so it has to share luggage space

Ha! Find me a 21/22 with HUD/Steps/Towbar that's not Black, has a light interior and sub 50k miles and there's a deal to be done. Not seen one and the search is saved but I just get regular notifications of black ones.

The rear seats do recline a couple of inches if you want them too....but so did they on my 2012 L322. If seatback to tailgate is important then you may want to measure. I'm sure I put a pic up somewhere where a similar question was asked.

I'm sure there's another with pics and a ruler showing measurments, but I cant find it on a quick search. Mike - MPx

There's a green one with cirrus/ebony interior on LRA at the moment, not sure if that counts as a light interior.

The number of Black cars is frustrating, that's the only colour that I won't consider either. I don't mind the dark interiors though. Towbar an essential on my list

I did find that link - will search for the other thread as that measurement would be really helpful. My L322 is a VSE so got the fixed seats. Would you mind measuring the depth of the floor in yours please?

Worst case I could then go to Saxtons (shudder..) and measure a standard and a exec seat option to see the difference

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post696806.html this is the post with the measurements

18 MY SVA Dynamic

Boot floor depth - 36 inches
Top of seats horizontal to opening - 20 inches

L322 with fixed rear seats

Boot floor depth - 43 inches
Top of seats horizontal to opening - 30 inches

It really is a massive difference. Would be good to know what a normal L405 is without the Exec rear seats?

Sorry, Land Rover Approved, not sure if the link will work: https://buy.landrover.co.uk/approved-used/vehicle/'svo-premium-palette'-green-range-rover-5252853?
There's also a sand coloured one with all light coloured seats.

And thanks, I still admire it each time I get in it, very pleased.

Mine is Floor 43 ; Top of seats 26 (ish - not sure how reclined they are).

Yeah, the Green one I like and is close. But no side steps and I'm not keen on black wheels (fussy or what!). The red one is also close....but no cigar. Mike - MPx

Thanks, that's much closer to the L322 and a huge difference to the later cars - I suspect that measurement will be the same as the normal L405 cars of that age. The smaller upper number over the L322 will be due to the shape of the rear of the car not the actual seats

https://www.auto100.co.uk/vehicle-details/...92deba1746

I have found this earlier car which ticks a lot of boxes for me - towbar, side steps, HUD, Fridge. Only downside I can see is it has the lower spec headlights with only high beam assist?

Yeah...looks lovely. I dont know what spec lights I've got...but they're fine for normal night driving. High beam assist is very good but occasionally goes awol for a bit just to keep me on my toes. Mike - MPx
