Cillit Bang

Had to get my alloys cleaned as they were caked in brake dust , before i used to use wonder wheels and other alloy wheel cleaner products which took ages to apply and whatnot ……..

So i nicked the Wife's Cillit Bang to give it a try , considering how much brake dust was caked onto my Alloys i think it done better than the WW pish i have used before and roughly about 10/15 mins a wheel ……. do for me Thumbs Up

Not the best i-phone pictures tho …

Go easy with it, it'll destroy your wheels in no time if you use it too often. 2006 Mercedes CLS

As Mark says, it will ruin the wheels

There are plenty non corrosive wheel cleaners on the market now that will do the same

I give my wheels a couple of coats of wheel wax and wash them with some acid free bilberry wheel cleaner, most of the time, just spray the bilberry on, leave it for a few minutes then jet wash off, no real effort needed. 2006 Mercedes CLS

Whats the problem using Cillet Bang for cleaning alloy wheels, done it for years scrubbed on with an old paint brush and rinsed off. The wheels never suffered in anyway, looked really good.
An alternative is Cif, just as good applied the same way.
Once used Cif to clean the body work of a particulary badly stained car, came up like new with not a mark on the paintwork. Smile

I like the bit about the Industrial Use Smile

Because it is a mild acid if left on for too long may start to corrode some surfaces (this is how it gets all the muck off) and is not recommended for Aluminium, Copper, Zinc.

Unless you are running pure alloys (e.g. no paint/ lacquer etc), I can't see any harm in Cillit Bang on an occasional basis.

Use gloves though Wink .
