2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Baltic Blue

What is this part and what does it do?

Can anyone tell me what this part is and what it does? It intermittently makes a horrible rattling noise. The car runs fine but just doesn’t sound nice when it starts rattling.

2016 Range Rover SVAutobiography SDV8 Corris Grey

High pressure fuel pump, known to sometimes rattle. I recall a recent post on here and pretty much everyone who replied heard a rattle now and again. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

Yes as 4RRS says it’s very common for the fuel pump to rattle.
It is a bit disconcerting but they seem to run ok and I haven’t heard of many pump failures but there are a few.
Mine runs quieter if I use premium fuel. 2012 TDV8 4.4 Westminster Santorini black
