Any negatives to using the emergency parking brake release?

Continuing the recommissioning of an L322, I'm working my way through the brakes and need to replace the rear disks and pads with the snag being the brake pipes had started to be replaced prior to me getting to it which has resulted in not being able to remove the parking brake electronically due to low brake fluid level and pressure.

At this stage I have the rear flexi's to replace and the callipers to overhaul to so I've discovered there is a manual release cable in the boot which in theory should allow me to change the discs and pads.

Does anyone know if operating the manual release has a detrimental effect on the epb unit? Having discovered they appear to be over a grand to replace I don't want to pull the cable and find it knackers the EPB module by stripping gears or dislodging a cable internally.

Any input gratefully appreciated!

Pulling the cable to release locked-on park brake shouldn't result in any damage. The first application of the EPB afterwards is meant to reconnect the cables but not apply the park brake.
IIRC the Gap tool has an option to relax but not disconnect the cables for servicing. D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims
