ENGINE FAILURE 4.4 SDV8

Looking for some advice/help i travelled approx 8 miles home since hearing the engine making a horrible noise probably the bearing turned on the crankshaft, since i have took the filter out its showing the glittery swarth. Incidentally my car has just turned fifty thousand .Just wondering what the chances of the turbos or heads been damaged

The oil was changed every annual service as we only do around 6k per year .In hindsight i wish i had it changed twice a year but there was absolutely no warning`s or any signs of it going to happen

Shocked

A taxi might have been a whole lot cheaper, if you’d turned off the engine there & then. After 8 miles, a lot more damage is very likely.

Sorry to hear about your woes, best of luck. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

After seeing the damage to my son's TDV6, once a noise was heard the crankshaft would likely to have been ruined. If it didn't seize then at least the conrods and pistons might be OK.
