Help with suspension height

Changed my steering angle sensor on my 2003 TD6 and as the car had been sat for a couple of months due to holiday and an operation, it had sagged slightly on one side. I used my iiD tool to reset the suspension but now it’s in full (extended) off-road height.

I can’t even lower it if I select ‘deflate corners’ or ‘deflate all’, it’s just stuck in the highest position it’s ever been.

Any ideas please gents? Im new to the iiD tool so you may need to speak to me in idiot terms Embarassed

Better still, Im happy to PayPal someone knowledgeable a crate of beer tokens if they can talk me through it by phone. But help here also appreciated

What am I doing wrong?

You can try two things

1) Go to Suspension / Guided Calibration and go through the guide from beginning to end, making sure at the end to press one of the EAS buttons eg Access Mode or Off Road Extended

2) Menu--Service Test--Suspension--Re Enable will return it to normal

hope one of the two work OK

When my 06 Td6 has been left for months whilst at sea it can be reluctant to alter the height, a steering angle sensor reset usually does the trick, full lock/hold, centre/hold, opposite lock/ hold, back to centre.
It may also be worth checking that all sensors are 'free' to move. the new sensor fitted, is the connection ok etc. Did the problem only occur after you changed the steering angle sensor ?, in which case i would check that first ? Hope this helps.
I cannot help with using the Gap tool,as I use a Icarsoft device to check my angle sensor.

Thanks guys

Pcourtney - I tried to go through the guided calibration but my actual measurements are so far out from what my iiD is telling me Im reluctant to make any changes in case I do any damage or make it worse.

Physical measurements are approx 640mm on each corner, iiD is telling me 160mm and 170mm.

And I’ve tried re-enabling the suspension in the test menu but again, nothing. Even tried deflating all corners and the reservoir but nothing. But I still get the ‘procedure complete’ message, indicating it did in fact deflate.

Merchy - tried the full lock to lock and clearing all faults with iiD. Steering angle sensor is now registered/coded, working and gives me a live value when I turn the steering wheel.

Next step maybe to try removing the sintered tip from the compressor and replace both rear height sensors, even though they are showing actual values and not open circuit.

What are your measurements for all four wheels from the hub centres ( ie the middle of the centre wheel cap) , below is a table of what the measurements should be from the wheel arch (the bottom side of the wing) to the centre of the wheel caps

NB please measure on a flat piece of road or driveway, or as flat as possible.

All 4 corners are about 640mm when measured from bottom of wing to centre of the wheel cap.

About 150mm too high Big Cry

Have you got into the boot and taken the cover off the compressor, and removed the silencer exhaust ( it looks like a cork shape type brass cone ) , remove the exhaust and using a small drill bit- 2mm is good, drill down the middle and then place it back in the compressor housing, see if the suspension then drops back to "Standard Height"

Whilst in there change the desiccant as well, that and the cork trick may well do it, as the car has been sitting around for a while, and being a 2003, the compressor may not be exhausting properly.

Probably an obvious one but...Have you moved/driven it? I know that when my suspension raises due to jacking and wheel removal it rights itself after being driven a short distance.. All the best

Good shout sir... Thumbs Up
But to add, the suspension will work with the silencer removed albeit very loudly! When removed, try blowing through it... They always block up! even on the 405's its no different! Whistle Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
