ABS failure woes and will an IID help

My new to me 2016 L405 4.4L SDV8 has had the radiator replaced as it leaked. Possibly the legacy of a botched repair it probably has leaked into the sealed ABS module as unknown to me it was damaged and appeared to have been opened but it still worked.

On an infrequent basis, maybe three times over 6 months, the car has thrown out ABS dashboard warning lights but with no default to limp mode, it generally has reset and carried on. We expected we had an emerging issue to attend to so when the radiator was replaced we took the opportunity to look at continuity testing. We could not find an issue with the looms however when we took off the Bosch module we discovered the unit rattled with water, how on earth it worked baffled us. Shocked

Maybe naively we dried it out and resealed the Bosch module as much in hope we figured…… it had worked if we reassembled everything we might get lucky. As it was still an issue we had to conclude it was beyond economic repair. We sent the module off to a well known ECU testing company to have it confirmed it was damaged beyond repair.and to see if codes could be read.

A used Bosch module (2017 good match pump and module parts) was fitted. We only swapped the easy bit, the module but again our attempts with an Autel have proved fruitless we still have dashboard array and limp mode. I failed to see the posts on earthing but we now know after testing the ABS module it was damaged.

Is there a re-programme option if so would an IID tool be the way forward?

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Santorini Black

I had a problem with the ABS on a 2013 Vogue. Initially I thought it was one of the ABS sensors that was playing up, but it turned out to be the wiring to the plug that connects to the ABS sensor. The wiring was under strain and over time was starting to break.

Have a look at those to see if they are the problem.

What are the error codes that are being reported ? There must be some if it’s in limp mode. V8 or else ...

Screenshot is last play around and the two different vin numbers give the view that the donor ABS ECU requires recoding. I have had various views expressed about how that can be done or not done and my Autel is limited and I know cannot clear so I wondered about an investment in an IID tool and whether it had the capabilities

don't know if this would be the same but on my l322 i had abs errors but turned out to be a abs wheel sensor and fault only cleared after i replaced it with a genuine sensor

Thanks I am hopeful I have isolated the problem to water within the ABS module, wiring thus far all checks out as good. I really want to follow the logic on IID tool and reprogramming as last post.

Any views on IID tool?
