So here I am, just clocked up 2 years with my late 2012 L322. In that time I have covered 17K miles and just hit 70k. I had noticed the burning oil smell in the cabin on occasions and also when I stepped outside of the Rangey. It is the oil cooler. The oil can be seen on and around the cooler when I shine a torch down inside the donut.I have arranged for it to go in to a specialist and plan to get a new cooler and do any other nessary preventative maintenance while he is in there. I will keep you all updated but it seems to be a well documented issue with the TDv8.

While he does the cooler, get him to check the orings on the turbo feed pipe at the back of the engine.

Cheap fix, and easy to do as a preventative while messing with the cooler. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

When mine was done I had the serpentine belt and the tensioner replaced at the same time. 70K might be a good time to do it. Just a thought.  John
