Prototype Vehicle?

Spotted this morning, on the M5. Dark grey L460 with the words PROTOTYPE VEHICLE in white on the boot lid.

It had tucked under exhausts on either side, but of course they could be a decoy.

Any ideas as to what it might be?

Initially that was my thinking as well Stan, but I was puzzled as to why it would have what appears to be the standard rear exhaust set up. I was driving my Volvo V90, which sits quite low, when it slowly overtook me. So I got a good look at the rear end.

It wasn't disguised in anyway whatsoever, so I'm thinking that it's possibly a R&D vehicle or 'test mule' as I think they are known as. Hence the unknown definition and the Prototype Vehicle sticker.

It has it down as a 2023 petrol.
