It's David's great post iv been using for guidance iv just run down the motorway and back and the revs are still bouncing up and down ever so slightly as before and obviously the shudder.

The big debate is do I reset the adaptations or not, David did this on his 1st 5.0 but the gearbox soon gave up and Phil says not to as well.

I think this is best practise so il be ordering a full set of solenoids tomorrow. Thumbs Up

The one I reset the adaptions on was a 4.2.

I misdiagnosed that as being a faulty gearbox as after swapping it I had the same fault. It was the transfer box on mine that was causing the problem. A new transfer box from Duckworth's sorted my problem out and it was perfect afterwards.

If you've got a problem I'd not reset them after an oil change. I did reset mine on this 5.0 after I'd changed the solenoids though and it's been perfect since. Thumbs Up 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Thanks David for clearing that up I'm going to order a full set of solenoids today then report back. Hopefully from the place you got yours from.

They’re definitely worth trying as its a much easier fix then doing the torque converter.

I did the dampers in the valve body on mine whilst it was apart.

Got everything crossed that yours is a simple fix too.

Indy reckons I need a new gearbox, won’t do anything with a refurb unit and mentioned £8k+ for a new box 😂. Looking at cars history another Indy did a flush under 15k miles ago, but oil looked fairly dark with some tiny shiny specs😏

Maybe do the same as me I'm still waiting on sussex autos to get back to me on price and stock of a solenoid kit there web site lists it but they just don't seem to answer emails or what's app enquiries . I mean how hard can it be to reply to customers Neutral

I hoping mines just a solenoid as David proved with his after swopping 1 out lent by Phil.

If I don't get a reply back by tomorrow il just order direct off their site
X1 solenoid kit
X7 litres zf6 life guard fluid
Swop them all out do an adaptation reset and see what happens.

Also slightly confused by model numbers, a build sheet I have for my RR says “ 6 Speed Auto ZF 6HP26 Steptronic (078BO)” but on here I’m seeing the 5.0SC has 6HP28 ? 2010 Supercharged

Well… just had the car back from the dealer. Pic of the gearbox service attached. Dealer experienced the original issue, and drove it around 60 miles on his way back to me and states that it’s entirely gone after a bit of driving. Bloke that worked on it said oil came out looking very burned.

Will drive it round for a bit and fingers crossed it’s sorted. Will call it a lucky break if a fluid change and adaptations has sorted it out! Will update here in a few weeks and a few hundred miles.

Best of luck to the rest of you, too!
