Weekend workshop, make your L405 sportier...

Items needed

1. Gap IID or similar high spec diagnostic tool..
2. L405 with ACE..

Plug in your IID etc and load up the CCF (Car Configuration File)

Ensure Dynamic response module says "fitted"

Change dynamic button to "fitted"

Then load the file...

Job done, no hardware needed, use the response knob to activate, raise it and one click anticlockwise brings it in and your dials turn red, a twisty road sign appears on the dash...!! Lower the knob to turn it off..

What exactly does it do I hear you ask........ well..!

That depends on what you read or believe anywhere from absolutely nothing to a host of things which include

1, Gearbox holds gears a bit longer, and/or sharpens changes.
3, Less body roll
4, Sharper steering
5, Better throttle response

To name but a few....

Personally I like it, it feels to me like fatty is just a bit fitter and runs really nice...

I defo think the pause time when you hit the throttle is about 1/2 what it was...

The 18 year old boy racer in me loves the red dials but I don't think I'd want it all the time... Rolling Eyes

Anyway if you fancy a quick and free mod it's free, easy and reversible...

What's not to like... Thumbs Up Pete

I'll need to try this, thanks.

Edit - Tried it, and for me:

What it does: turning the terrain response into dynamic brings up the red dials, and stiffens up the steering ... at all speeds, even at slow speed car park stuff. I would have thought the low speed stuff would make the steering lighter feeling. ( Like the L322 used to do ) If anything, I think evoque had a more noticeable difference in this regard and worked a little better.

What it doesn't seem to do for me on first test drive:
Change / enable a difference in the gearbox / throttle response. If in D, then changing to dynamic did nothing to the gears ( i.e. it didn't drop a gear ). For that, I had to put the gearbox into S ... at which point it made all the changes you think it ought to.

Cant say I noticed a difference in the lean, and not driven it enough to see if it makes a marked difference to the damping.

Dynamic + S makes for a markedly different drive through in general. Much more keen. V8 or else ...

Does this work for all model years?

I have long been. Convinced, perhaps placebo like, that sport mode didn’t stiffen things to a sport mode, but made a noticeable difference.. not that it was night and day.

I have a MY17 SDV8 with ace, but kinda cool if I could add a personality to it!

IIRC it doesn't work on the facelift 405 (MY18??) as the IID doesn't work on them, not sure on the 17MY.... I suppose it will if the IID will work on it.... Thumbs Up Pete

Just been out to do mine. Very quick and easy to do. Definitely a better throttle response and does hold the gears longer in mine. Not really noticed anything else as I didn’t go very far. But definitely worth doing. Thanks for the heads up Thumbs Up 2016 4.4 diesel

My word Haylands

Makes a big difference - not just a sporty looking dash.

Steering seems more precise and tighter
Throttle response also seems a little better
Rev range is certainly increased.

Not sure but I think there is less body roll as well.

Some of this might be in my head cos of the dash colour though 😂

Great find - looking forward to your next ‘hidden menu find’..! Ash

Six years i have had my Fatty and that is a huge difference but i have a feeling the fuel aconomy might suffer, must be good for the 2nd turbo as never seen the rpm over 2000 so much, some strange side effects though radio changed it's self from radio 2 to Kisstory, bass doubled from the speakers and i gained a heavy right foot and wanted to race everyone instead of being a grandad driver. Rolling with laughter

When you load the CCF it's a bit like disconnecting the battery, a lot of items return to original settings... Pete
